If you don't know me... I founded Sundown Audio in 2006. I was 23 years old at the time. After graduating South Iredell High School in 2001 I went to school for Electronics Engineering Technology at Western Carolina University, but I didn't finish the program as it was mostly digital stuff, and I really couldn't maintain an interest. I am an audio guy and the analog power circuits were much more interesting to me. I spent about three years in college.

I started car-audio as a hobby in 2000 or so when I began working with Brandon Sparks at a local car dealership after school (he is still working at Sundown), and he sold me my first stereo system. At this time, I became a bit hyper-fixated on it and started reading (as I do with anything I am interested in), joining forums, etc.

In college I ended up meeting Nick Lemons and we became friends and roommates - he had already started Stereo Integrity and was already selling subwoofers! So, we spent the remainder of college talking about speakers, naturally. Many of the things we discussed would eventually become real products at Sundown.

After college I worked a job at a small warehouse - a distributor of keys (Howard Keys Company) - for a few years. I learned about small business there and in 2006 I went on to found Sundown while still working there with a very small loan from my parents (under $100k). In 2008 I went full-time, and the rest is history. I really appreciate the Goldberg family - my bosses at Howard Keys - for allowing me to work for them while I started my own thing. I'll never forget that.

Some extra details - it was a little later in 2008 that I rented my first commercial location in Troutman, NC where we stayed until 2013. We began with ~3,000 ft^2 and ended with close to ~30,000 ft^2 at that location. We moved to Claremont, NC in July of 2013 into a ~100,000 ft^2 building where we stayed until late 2019. We moved from there to Newton, NC to our current 175,000 ft^2 building - where we hope to stay for a long, long time.

As you may notice - I am not FROM this industry. I never worked for anyone in audio. I was a passionate enthusiast - like you guys! I am completely self-taught. I had the privilege of meeting many folks in the industry over the years and learning from them in conversations, of course, folks such as Dan Wiggins, Nick Wright, and several others online only (Manville from JL used to post online a lot, there was a guy from Kicker, but I only know his screenname "polecat", and many more).

The remainder of the knowledge I have accumulated has mostly come from intense hands-on experimentation and research. Fast forward to the last few years and the team has expanded to include such amazing folks as Murilo Alvares to help me make the coolest stuff possible.

Thanks for creating what has become the standard in audio and providing us with awesome products at super reasonable prices. You just beat the amount and quality of product you get per dollar. No one else tries things and experiments with idea as much as sundown. Thank you
